Brendan Bowyer, Tennis Director
Brendan Bowyer was appointed the Tennis Director of the Cottonwood Country Club in April of 1998. He was born in Galway, Ireland and at the age of twelve, he and his family moved to Las Vegas where he began playing tennis. As a junior player, he won the Nevada State Junior Championship, as well as the Irish Junior Singles and Doubles Championships. Along with representing Ireland in international competition, Brendan and his mother won the U.S. National Mother/Son Championship.
Brendan came to Utah on a tennis scholarship at the University of Utah. He was a finalist in the Utah State Open three times before winning it in 2002 and being ranked number 1 in Utah Men's Open Singles. Brendan has earned elite professional status by the USPTA and served as President of the Utah USPTA in 1996 and 1997. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Utah Tennis Association.
On January 31, 2019, Brendan was presented the David L. Freed Award. This award was established in 1979 to be presented annually to an individual who has constantly provided leadership and example both in quality of play and service to the game.
